Vancouver and Bowen Island trip October 2024 - lots of vegan food

This post will mostly be about the vegan food I ate on my last Vancouver trip. My main purpose of this trip was to visit older relatives but there was a secondary purpose of visiting my mom’s grave for the first time.  I left from Ottawa airport in the evening but I hadn’t eaten much that day. I usually don’t get food on planes but I was hungry and they had a vegan wrap. It was good. You can read about my flight experience here   Is AirCanada bulkhead seat worth an $80 Flights from Ottawa usually arrive in Vancouver in the evening. Before exiting the gates there is a cafe that has to live for treats. Rebel cookies were on sale at the store. There is very little vegan food around my hotel so I stocked up for the week. After getting luggage there is a 7-11 in the airport to get some essentials for the trip. Vancouver Planted Expo 2021

I won tickets to planted expo formally veg expo. Prior to the pandemic I went to veg expo every year. This is the first time I have gone as a vegan in the past I was vegetarian I didn’t check but I assume everything was vegan this year. I was hesitant to go to a convention during a pandemic they checked vaccine passports, and masks needed to be worn if not eating. The booths were spaced out but it was a bit awkward eating samples having to take the mask on and off especially if a booth got a little crowd around it. It never got uncomfortably crowded but I did miss a few booths. I felt there were less wrapped samples than at past events but foodie buddy said she thought it was the same as the past. It was nice to be able to attend this kind of an event after a long time.

When you walk in they had reusable bags with gummies  from Herbaland to take. I liked that they laid out all the coupons/promotional materials on the table so you could take what you wanted. In the past I have volunteered and have filled those bags with coupons and samples the new method was much better. 


What did I buy for the show special prices?

I entered a bunch of contests while there so hopefully I will win something else from the online contests. I won some candy, a reusable bag, a pen, and a notepad at the show. 

The expo was great this year and I will look forward to going again in the future.

I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. It’s now January 2025 and I will start a new blog post I already have two prizes to write about.
