Is Air Canada Bulkhead Seat worth an $80 upgrade

Image
I took a flight from Ottawa to Vancouver. I could see from the seating map that the flight was fully booked. I usually pay to book a window seat and then try and get a seat with no one beside me at the last minute it works 50% of the time and the planes that I have been on leaving from Ottawa are not usually full. This time was different the airport was busier than I have ever seen it. I could tell from the seating map the plane was full. It cost $40 to book a window seat. I saw a last minute opening for a bulkhead window seat and decided to try it. It cost $80 to upgrade to the bulkhead seat but the $40 I already paid would get credited. I liked the idea of having a wall in front of me on such a packed flight.  I have free check in luggage with my credit card so I usually only take a backpack to leave under my seat on the plane. If I was in the back of the plane I wait until the last minute to board. I knew I would have no storage at my seat but this seat comes with early zone 3 board

My first time ordering a pizza without cheese

Image
I have been a vegetarian for over thirty years. Over the last year I have been transitioning to a vegan diet.  I used to think there is no way I could give up dairy but with all the vegan products on the market now it’s been easy. If I do eat dairy I can feel the effects on my body. My stomach bloats, my face breakouts, and I get tired.  There are many pizza places in my area that have vegan pizza’s with vegan cheese which I have had. I haven’t had anything amazing that I crave. I find that you often have to buy a large pizza to get the vegan option so I prefer to only get pizza from a restaurant when I am really craving it. I have satisfied my cravings with homemade pizza, vegan frozen pizza, and vegan pizza from cobbs bakery. When I was vegetarian hearthstone pizza was a favourite place. It’s one price for whatever toppings you want. I haven’t been there since changing to a vegan diet because I wasn’t sure about ordering pizza with no cheese. I ordered tomato sauce and all the vegeta

Starbucks Apple Crisp Iced Coffee

Image
There was a time when I drank a Starbucks almost daily. Over the last few years I transitioned to making coffee at home more. The last few months I no longer have to drink coffee daily and only drink it once in awhile as a treat. Sometimes you need a fall drink on a hot summer day to make you feel good.  I knew the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte would be released today August 24. When I was looking to see what variation of drinks are available this year I found they now have Apple Crisp flavoured drinks this year.  I did some research to find out if it is vegan as far as I can tell from the ingredients it is vegan. I also read some reviews that said it’s good for people who find pumpkin spice too sweet. I do find the pumpkin spice to sweet.  The reviews also said the hot version is better than the iced. It’s a really hot day so I went with the iced I also substituted coconut milk. I was looking forward to a spicy apple flavoured drink. The first sip had a really nice apple flavour. Th

I tried more meal kits from Vegano

Image
Vegano is the first company I have ordered a second meal kit from. I even have credits with other companies but I can’t find anything I like. It’s amazing I found a vegan company I like. The meal kit is $70 including delivery for 3 meals for two people. The price is good for what you get I usually get three or four big portions out of each kit even though they are meant to be two portions.  The first meal I made this week is grilled zucchini spaghetti it came with big pieces of grilled zucchini that the instructions say to put in the oven for 15 minutes. I cut the zucchini into pieces. The spaghetti was brown rice and the kit had cashew spinach dip, arugula, and a lemon vinaigrette. This one is easy to put together. It’s delicious I would order it again.  The second meal was an Indian butter cauliflower. This is meant to be a vegan version of butter chicken. It came with garlic naan and rice. I had leftover khichari which is rice and lentils. I didn’t cook the rice in the kit I will us

A walk in Port Moody British Columbia Canada

Image
Today I went for a walk in Port Moody British Columbia Canada. This week the weather has been cool after a long heat wave it felt really nice.  There were many people having birthday parties and picnics in the park but not a lot walking along the water. I enjoyed watching people get their boats into the water.  It was a good day to walk there. I made an Instagram Reel of the videos I took you can see if you click the link.  Instagram Reel of walk in Port Moody Unfortunately I am having trouble inserting video into this post but you can see everything if you click on the link above.

Beyond Meat Nuggets at A&W Canada

Image
I remember a couple years ago when I tried the vegan nuggets at A&W Canada. They were good but I preferred the beyond burger. I thought they would be around for awhile but then they were gone. I never had a chance to try the KFC vegan popcorn chick’n before they were gone. I went to A&W the first day the Beyond Meat nuggets came out all the advertising advises they are only here for a limited time. I wanted to ensure I tried them before they get sold out. I have seen reviews of people that like them but some of their posts are sponsored. None of my posts are sponsored just my real opinion.  I have been vegetarian for over 30 years I don’t remember liking chicken nuggets when I ate meat. I do like the Gardein brand vegan strips but they aren’t sold at fast food restaurants. I still prefer a vegan burger over nuggets any day.  The nuggets come in a 4 piece kids size, 6 pieces, 10 pieces. I don’t remember the exact prices around $6 for both the kids and 6 piece and $9 for the 10 pi

I made meals from vegano meal kit

Image
The first meal I made was vegan braised cabbage udon noodles. The QR code for recipe instructions did not work but I was able to get instructions from the website. I never follow recipes exactly. I found the vegetable prep to be too much work. I would have rather has the vegetables chopped for me. They gave a quarter of a daikon said use a peeler to make ribbons that was to difficult for me I just chopped it. Some of the instructions were not clear so I made some mistakes. It turned out amazing though. It is definitely not something I would make myself and would be hard to find vegan in a restaurant. I got 3 portions from it so portions are big. I give this meal an 9/10.  Vegan Udon on Instagram The second meal I made was the vegan French onion Mac and cheese. I don’t use an oven and so I just made it in a pan. This was easy to prepare. I found it lacking taste even though I added more spices. When I reheated in the airfryer it tasted much better so it could be that I didn’t follow the

My experience with meal kits

Image
Meal kits are when you are sent a bag of ingredients and you cook your meal. My attitude has always been I like going to the grocery store and cooking everything myself or get a fully cooked meal from a restaurant. To me meal kits seemed to be an in between that isn’t for someone like me.  I like free things though so awhile ago I was given a free meal kit from a different company Good Food. It was okay I don’t follow recipes I didn’t use all the ingredients and the food was just okay. I did like that it is convenient if going on vacation or sick and can’t get to the grocery store so I kept the account its easy to keep the account and not buy anything.  When I was recovering from surgery I couldn’t get to the grocery store so I thought it would be perfect to try another company. This time I tried Hello Fresh. The food was extremely tasty but there were so many steps and so many dishes needed to make anything. I have changed to a vegan diet and they only offer the option of getting vege
