I tried all the vegan soft serve in Ottawa. I probably missed a few but I did try a lot of them. I have lived in Ottawa for two years and I was still transitioning from vegetarian to vegan when I moved here. I don’t remember having a lot of soft serve in Vancouver when I did eat dairy. I only remember having it at McDonald’s and buffets. I didn’t even know vegan soft serve was a thing until I moved to Ottawa. I tried six places The Merry Dairy, Oddburger, Little Jo Berry’s, Chocolate Favouris, IKEA, PastelXCoco, and 2 bonuses dole whip from Cinnaholic and the plant based dilly bar from Dairy Queen. I also went to Mavericks but they have been having supply issues and the soft serve is currently not vegan. Let me know if I missed any and maybe I’ll update the post in the future.  The Merry Dairy was the first vegan soft serve I had in Ottawa. I remember thinking I had to wait in line to get into the store only to learn soft serve was at the truck with no line. I was super excited that I

Foodiebuddy and I arranged to go to Tsawwassen Mills as a pre-birthday celebration. Tsawwassen Mills is a newer mega mall with outlets near the ferry terminal. The mall is built on first nations land as it is about a 40 minute drive from Vancouver. Prior to the mall existing I very rarely visited Tsawwassen I believe the last time was over ten years ago when a family member lived there. I live in Coquitlam and Foodie Buddy lives in Richmond so we both took skytrains from our homes and met in downtown Vancouver. We didn't plan this but we ended up picking a gorgeous weather day much appreciated after the weather we have had recently. downtown Vancouver April 21, 2018 We knew the bus left at 12:30 but we weren't sure where the stop was. We decided it was likely where the other buses leave from at Canada Place. We saw the bus when walking o

I saw this amazing Vegan Hollandaise recipe from  www.hookedonplants.ca  I had to get cashews to actually try it. I made a few changes using the ingredients I had. The result is so good it inspired me to write a blog post. The recipe calls to soak cashews overnight I soaked them for 10 minutes. I also replaced the lemon juice with pressured cooked ginger lemon my friend made for me. I used curry spice, herbamare sea salt, and pepper for seasoning. I put all the following ingredients in the magic bullet  half a cup of cashews 1 tablespoon of nutritional yeast seasoning After blending it was too runny so I added another 10 cashews and a tablespoon of nutritional yeast The texture is great except I should have soaked the additional cashews To make tortilla chips heat a tablespoon of olive or coconut oil in a pan (I used olive this time coconut in the past) fold corn tortilla (365 by whole foods is my preferred tortilla) into triangles and fry f
