2024 Contest Wins

Image
I enter and win a lot of contests but I always forget to track how much I win. This year I am going to have a blog post and keep updating it as I win.  Contest win #3 was a medium mixed produce box from OddbunchCanada. Until this contest i didn’t know much about OddbunchCanada . I can’t believe they are selling a produce box of this size and quality for only $32 plus $4 delivery. It is a lot more produce than I was expecting to get and it’s very good quality. Last week during a trip to Montreal I May have complained that I needed to eat some vegetables after all the croissants and sweets that problem is solved. I will likely order a small box $20 from OddbunchCanada in the future.  Total Value of Prizes so far March 2024 $131 Contest win #2 for 2024 was a Queen Cake from  Strawberry Blonde Bakery . A very yummy vegan cake. I packed some up to share with my friends. I’m not sure what this cake is valued at but cakes range from $44-100 on the website. I will go with a conservative $50.

2018 Goal Reached earned over $1375 from the internet and $1500 Goal for 2019

If you want to read last year's post click  here http://www.livingvancouverloca.com/2017/12/2017-goal-reached-earned-1000-cdn-from.html Last year I wasn't sure if I would be able to meet this goal but I actually passed it. I am happy about meeting this goal so of course I am motivated to pass it again. 2019 my goal will be $1500 because my circumstances have changed a little since last year. I have a new job with a long commute and not a lot of internet access when I am out. $1500 seems realistic where I have to work but it won't be overwhelming. My requirements are still that I do things I enjoy and can do them anytime I want with no commitment. I will post links in the future but I really wanted to get this post out before 2019. Here is a breakdown of the earnings 2018 Earnings mturk $776.69 prolific $162.96 focus group $125.00 field agent $67.50 quest mindshare/panel champ $62.50 Eva $60.00

Vegan Noodle Soup

Image
If you don't have a soup maker I really love mine. I bought it years ago it is a kettle with a blender in it where you just put the ingredients in press the timer and in 25-28 minutes you have soup. This recipe can be made in a pot but I made it in the soup maker.  Ingredients  Vegan Broth 1 Sweet Potato cut into pieces half a white onion sliced 3 small carrots  (I was practicing with my spiralizer) 1 package smoked tofu curry spice pepper rice noodles additional water  1 tsp olive oil I had never used the carrot spiralizing tool before and I forgot I had carrots. I tried to use it on a sweet potato it didn't work so that is why this soup has carrots and sweet potato in it. I found the soup maker works best if you use a little bit of fat in it which is why I added olive oil. Add the oil, onion, sweet potato, spices, broth and fill to the line with water. Plug the soup maker in and select chunky for the type of soup

September 23, 2018 -Goals Update Part 1 - Get a job

I started drafting this post in June as it was half way through the year and thought it was a good time to do a goal update now it is September and I haven't posted this yet so what was I doing? Working on my goals of course. Should I put the blog on my goal list next year, so I work on it? I have made significant progress on all of the goals from my January 9, 2018 post. You can read  it here  http://www.livingvancouverloca.com/2018/01/2017-year-in-review-and-2018-goals.html  I had three major goals for this year.  January 9, 2018 - Goals for 2018 Summary 1. Get a job, I pretty much took a year long holiday from working and now it is time to get back into the working world. 2.  Get healthier physically which means losing weight considering I put on 15 pounds last year alone losing that 15 pounds would be a great start. 3. Earn $1375 from the internet this is ideal as it goes along with the 52 week savings challenge that I am doing. For more info see the previous posts. Ho

May 27, 2018 Wild Whale Watching Tour Granville Island

Image
My brother booked the tour as a present for his girlfriend and invited me along as they will be moving out of Vancouver soon. We met up at Granville Island and headed to the office where they informed us that we will have to sign waiver forms and we will be wearing the full body suit life jackets. I wasn't expecting that it was a super hot day. The tour leader was knowledgable and knew what size suit to give us. There was around 30 people on the tour on a new boat. Another thing I wasn't expecting was that it was going to be an open boat on our walk to the boat the tour leader gave us a talk about where to sit in the boat there was disadvantages to every location. When we got on the boat we were at the back and didn't end up having a choice of where to sit so ended up in the back. The seats were in threes so two of all the rows were taken. The seats were like beach chairs comfy to sleep in hard to get up out of. The boat also went really fast we could get up and walk aro

April 21, 2018 Tsawwassen Mills shopping trip

Image
Foodiebuddy and I arranged to go to Tsawwassen Mills as a pre-birthday celebration. Tsawwassen Mills is a newer mega mall with outlets near the ferry terminal. The mall is built on first nations land as it is about a 40 minute drive from Vancouver. Prior to the mall existing I very rarely visited Tsawwassen I believe the last time was over ten years ago when a family member lived there. Fortunately Tsawwassen Mills is operating a free shuttle from downtown Vancouver and Richmond which makes getting there convenient. I live in Coquitlam and Foodie Buddy lives in Richmond so we both took skytrains from our homes and met in downtown Vancouver. We didn't plan this but we ended up picking a gorgeous weather day much appreciated after the weather we have had recently. downtown Vancouver April 21, 2018 We knew the bus left at 12:30 but we weren't sure where the stop was. We decided it was likely where the other buses leave from at Canada Place. We saw the bus when walking o

April 17, 2018 Vegan Nachos and Cheese Sauce

Image
I saw this amazing Vegan Hollandaise recipe from  www.hookedonplants.ca  I had to get cashews to actually try it. I made a few changes using the ingredients I had. The result is so good it inspired me to write a blog post. The recipe calls to soak cashews overnight I soaked them for 10 minutes. I also replaced the lemon juice with pressured cooked ginger lemon my friend made for me. I used curry spice, herbamare sea salt, and pepper for seasoning. I put all the following ingredients in the magic bullet  half a cup of cashews 1 tablespoon of nutritional yeast seasoning After blending it was too runny so I added another 10 cashews and a tablespoon of nutritional yeast The texture is great except I should have soaked the additional cashews To make tortilla chips heat a tablespoon of olive or coconut oil in a pan (I used olive this time coconut in the past) fold corn tortilla (365 by whole foods is my preferred tortilla) into triangles and fry f

2017 was a year of change for me but I feel like 2018 is going to have bigger changes.
