Started 2025 with a trip to Las Vegas

It’s now December 31, 2025 Im drinking tea in an ice cream shop in Ottawa realizing I never finished this post. I drafted this post earlier in the year but it’s all still relevant.  The  way the world has changed in the last few months I feel like I need to explain that I went to Las Vegas in early 2025 because I knew things were going to change after January 20. I didn’t know how. I was expecting more violence and less direct flights. I never expected that things would change so quickly in a few months. It is now the beginning of March and it’s hard to keep up. Anyways flights and tourism to US destinations are already significantly reduced from Canada. I finished this trip knowing it would be awhile before I visited the US again and it was a pretty perfect trip for my memories and I am glad I took it.  I have been to Las Vegas many times you can read about some of my previous trips on this blog. Vegan Spicy Chick’n Sandwich from Pizza Pizza

I have been vegetarian for over thirty years and have not had the opportunity to try many chick’n sandwiches. I tried KFC vegetarian sandwich once and did not like it. I have never tried the KFC vegan sandwich. I have had some homemade chick’n sandwiches and a couple from food trucks. 

Pizza Pizza is a Canadian Pizza chain that is known for affordable pizza. When I heard they were going to offer two vegan chick’n sandwiches complete with vegan mayo I was excited. I never imagined that a Pizza chain would offer better vegan burger options than the burger fast food chain. Usually I have to order vegan burgers without mayo. 

The sandwich consists of a vegan golden bun, vegan mayo, Lightlife chick’n patty, and pickles. I ordered the spicy sandwich it cost around $8 including tax and watched them make my sandwich. They deep fried the patty which was coated in breading. They squeezed vegan spicy sauce on both sides of the bun added the patty and two pickles. 

I waited until I got home to try the sandwich I decided to try a bite before heating it up. I ate half the sandwich cold. It was so good. It is everything I imagine a fast food sandwich to be. This sandwich definitely satisfied my vegan fast food cravings.

I won over $1300 worth of contest prizes in 2025

Last year I started keeping track of the prizes I won. You can read that post here  2024 Contest Prize Wins . It is a great post to have for memories so now I have a yearly post.  Updated January 1, 2026  I only had one more win since the last update it was a $10 scratch ticket from waypoint. I have won other smaller prizes like chocolate or drinks from waypoint that I usually giveaway. This is the first time I actually went to a waypoint to get my prize. It’s a gas station convenience store very small but cute. The ticket didn’t win anything. It’s now 2026 so this will be the last update for this post. November and December were really slow for prize wins for me. November makes sense because I took a break from entering but I’m not sure what happened in December. I entered a lot sometimes that’s just the luck but hopefully I will start the year with a few wins. I do have a few small prize wins that haven’t come yet. I made a vegan Dubai chocolate bar

I wanted to try a proper vegan version of the viral  Dubai chocolate. I have tried the one from Palm bites  and  it’s good but it’s a healthier version made from dark chocolate and the pistachio is the crunch. I have also tried the cookie from Naturally Vero since they had an option to get it with my meal prep delivery. They do make a chocolate bar  but they don’t deliver it. I like the cookie filling but find it was too heavy in the cookie. Juice Dudez also has the filling in a mango pudding which is excellent but they don’t do a vegan chocolate yet. I am hoping I will convince them or any other Ottawa vendor to make one some day. In the meantime I had to make one myself.  I have asked my vendor friends to make me one even sent them the recipes but no one has yet. I really wanted to try a proper unhealthy version just once.
