If you haven’t read my previous posts read part 1
Post Menopausal bleeding and Ultrasounds . It was getting long so I decided to start a new post. I got the call for an MRI at the end of March. It was scheduled for a couple days later at 2 am at Montford hospital. I only know about this hospital because I work for National Defence and we have offices there. I knew it at as the military hospital but it’s actually a separate building. It was still cold and snowing in Ottawa so I wasn’t looking forward to having to be out at 2am. I was also really busy at work but the only options may have been worse weather.
I really didn’t want to take UBER that late when it’s also freezing outside but there are only a few people I could ask to drive me at 2am on a weeknight. I am really grateful that I have some really great friends in Ottawa and my friend drove me and came inside with me. It ended up being a really fun with having my friend there to distract me.
Someone called me before my appointment to confirm and give me directions. They said to just go sit in the waiting room no one would be at the desk. It was nice being in this hospital at night because it was empty like having a private club. I was so grateful my friend was with me because I definitely would have been lost without her.
When the time came someone came and got me from the waiting room. This is also a French speaking hospital so the personal quickly explained to me how to change in to the gown in English but it was obviously a French speaker so was super fast. There was lockers in the room they told me to change lock my stuff up and fill in a form. It took me awhile to figure out the gown there was a picture of a 3 arm gown and instructions in the change room but I don’t think there was a third arm in this gown. I eventually just wore it sloppily.

It was too windy for me to take a hospital picture so this a different hospital picture that was in my camera roll
The tech came out asked me some questions. He also asked what kind of music I wanted to listen to. I told him to play what he likes. Then went into the MRI room experience was similar to my previous experience you can read about here MRI during a pandemic . The difference was although when they made the appointment they told me it wove with contrast the tech said they only use contrast if they have to. I was happy about this. The MRI was like an economy class flight with the top being to close to me but music was good and it was easy went by quickly. The tech asked if I enjoyed his DJ music and I did. He told me that I would only get music at night because he brings his own equipment and the day experience wouldn’t be the same. It was a super easy experience.
 | Now I’m out of pictures that relate to this post so enjoy an Ottawa picture
My friend as I had some other adventures that night starting with losing the parking ticket but we solved that with security. I waited two weeks to see who I should do the follow up I forgot I had requested a phone call until I read my last post. I called my family Doctor but he’s away until May. I tried to get an appointment with the gyno but they don’t answer the phone and haven’t responded to my email. Luckily the hospital doctor that referred me to the MRI called me on Friday for a phone appointment on Monday. The nice thing about being referred from the Ottawa hospital is I can read my reports and chart online. I recently read the one from the ultrasound and they had found something that looked like it was 19cm which is why they went to MRI. I will update after I get my results. I know this doctor likes to close her files I’m hopeful that is what will happen and if not I know this doctor is on top of her files.

I just had the call with the doctor and the only thing they found was fibroids and adenomyosis which they said I have probably had the whole time. Since I haven’t had any other symptoms no issues nothing to do now. The doctor didn’t want to release me from her care yet so they made a follow up appointment in six months just incase anything comes up. This is great care I am very happy with the procedures at the Ottawa Hospital and this was a different doctor than I had before and she was very willing to answer my questions. I asked if it was just a weird bleed that happened it’s been almost a year. She said most common reason in menopause is the vagina getting to dry or dropping but they have ruled out all the serious things. Everything looks like it’s in the normal range for someone my age. It took almost a year to get all the follow up done but I’m super happy everything is clear now. If anything does happen they said I could give them a call and I don’t need to follow up with the doctor that referred me. Hopefully this is really the end of this story and I can go back to blog posts about food.
