Vegan weekend adventures in Ottawa fall 2023

The fall season in Ottawa is a few weeks so you have to enjoy it. This summer was mostly rainy but it was heat wave weather at the end September straight to the colder windy days of October. If you are new to my blog I have lived most of my life in Vancouver and moved to Ottawa last year. I moved to Ottawa with my mom and last fall was dealing with her pancreatic cancer so I didn’t have time to enjoy Ottawa fall things. My mom passed away last October and this year I didn’t have many commitments which left me time to explore the Ottawa beauty and vegan food.  There really isn’t enough time to explore everything and work there is always something going on. I have also gone from not having much of a social life to having to vegan friends in the last couple of months. The beauty of Ottawa is it really is a big city small town at least in the vegan market community. Hotpotatoco one of the vendors at the market introduced me to one of my vegan friends that will be known as the other vegan g

October 30 - chickpea flour pizza, shopping and workout incentive

Happy Halloween I saw an article that avocado was the new pumpkin so I had to try

On friday evening I wanted a pizza. I never order delivery and it was to late for me to go out. I also don't keep regular flour in my house. I knew I had sauce and cheese and chickpea flour. I usually make chickpea flour pancakes but I wondered if I could make a pizza crust out of it. It actually worked pretty well I cook pizza in a frying pan as I don't use my oven and I find that the pan makes it easy to cook the crust and melt the cheese.

I poured the flour in the bowl

I added olive oil, salt, pepper, water wishing i had dried herbs
I would have let the dough sit but it was after work on and i was hungry so I only let it sit while the pan was getting hot. I put some ghee in the pan and then tried to spread the dough out in the pan it was hot so I couldn't take a picture. It would have been bette if i had rolled the dough out before putting it in the hot pan. I let the dough cook for a few minutes. Oops it was too hot but not quite burnt still tasted pretty good.

I added some sauce and cheese covered and let it cook for another 5 minutes. I poured the rest of the sauce in my pressure cooker added some pasta and water and 15 minutes later i had a delicious pasta ready as well.

the pizza satisfied my craving for the night

A l'occitane store just opened up by my house so the grand opening day had an extra 15% off and a free gift with purchase over $50. I can't resist a good deal like that even thought I only stocked up a few weeks ago. I did get the last of the advent calendars so there is 24 days of l'occitane surprises. I do beachbody on demand workouts and although I am a huge fan after I press play I always find it hard to motivate myself to get up and hit the play button on a daily basis. I decided to commit to the 3 week yoga retreat program it is a lot harder than it sounds. There are a lot of planks in yoga but I think it will be a good program for me to try. Everyday after the workout I am going to open a day of the calendar. I have done two workouts so far so I got a hand cream on day 1 and a body lotion on day 2. I have to do the workout to get my surprise of the day hopefully that will keep me motivated for the next three weeks.
