Vancouver and Bowen Island trip October 2024 - lots of vegan food

This post will mostly be about the vegan food I ate on my last Vancouver trip. My main purpose of this trip was to visit older relatives but there was a secondary purpose of visiting my mom’s grave for the first time.  I left from Ottawa airport in the evening but I hadn’t eaten much that day. I usually don’t get food on planes but I was hungry and they had a vegan wrap. It was good. Before exiting the gates there is a cafe that has to live for treats. Rebel cookies were on sale at the store. There is very little vegan food around my hotel so I stocked up for the week. After getting luggage there is a 7-11 in the airport to get some essentials for the trip. I tried Purdy’s vegan sweet Georgia Browns chocolate

Purdy’s chocolate has really been stepping up their vegan chocolate selections. They have created a mylk using rice powder. Originally they introduced a few types of simple chocolate bars. I have tried all of them and they are all good. 

Recently Purdy’s released vegan sweet Georgia browns. I have had the non vegan version and they are not my favourite but they are very popular. I always love to support companies when they introduce new vegan products so I tried them expecting I wouldn’t like them. I was wrong. 

The Sweet Georgia browns come in either a package of 2 or a bigger package. The package of 2 for the non vegan costs $5.50 and the vegan costs $6. It is understandable the vegan ones will cost more as they are a new product and I personally think the ingredients are better. 


They are a little difficult to get out of the package because there is no chocolate on the bottom. It is a lot of pecans in the beautiful vegan caramel  topped with chocolate. 

These are delicious and well worth the price. They are packed with nuts. The caramel is not insanely sweet it matches perfect with the nuts and holds everything together well.

The only thing I wished would be different was more chocolate. It does have a good amount of chocolate on it but I would prefer to have a little more maybe on the bottom to make it easier to get out of the package. 

I will definitely be buying the vegan Sweet Georgia Browns again and look forward to seeing more vegan options at Purdy’s chocolate in the future.

It’s now January 2025 and I will start a new blog post I already have two prizes to write about.
