Started 2025 with a trip to Las Vegas

It’s now December 31, 2025 Im drinking tea in an ice cream shop in Ottawa realizing I never finished this post. I drafted this post earlier in the year but it’s all still relevant.  The  way the world has changed in the last few months I feel like I need to explain that I went to Las Vegas in early 2025 because I knew things were going to change after January 20. I didn’t know how. I was expecting more violence and less direct flights. I never expected that things would change so quickly in a few months. It is now the beginning of March and it’s hard to keep up. Anyways flights and tourism to US destinations are already significantly reduced from Canada. I finished this trip knowing it would be awhile before I visited the US again and it was a pretty perfect trip for my memories and I am glad I took it.  I have been to Las Vegas many times you can read about some of my previous trips on this blog. I tried Purdy’s vegan sweet Georgia Browns chocolate

Purdy’s chocolate has really been stepping up their vegan chocolate selections. They have created a mylk using rice powder. Originally they introduced a few types of simple chocolate bars. I have tried all of them and they are all good. 

Recently Purdy’s released vegan sweet Georgia browns. I have had the non vegan version and they are not my favourite but they are very popular. I always love to support companies when they introduce new vegan products so I tried them expecting I wouldn’t like them. I was wrong. 

The Sweet Georgia browns come in either a package of 2 or a bigger package. The package of 2 for the non vegan costs $5.50 and the vegan costs $6. It is understandable the vegan ones will cost more as they are a new product and I personally think the ingredients are better. 


They are a little difficult to get out of the package because there is no chocolate on the bottom. It is a lot of pecans in the beautiful vegan caramel  topped with chocolate. 

These are delicious and well worth the price. They are packed with nuts. The caramel is not insanely sweet it matches perfect with the nuts and holds everything together well.

The only thing I wished would be different was more chocolate. It does have a good amount of chocolate on it but I would prefer to have a little more maybe on the bottom to make it easier to get out of the package. 

I will definitely be buying the vegan Sweet Georgia Browns again and look forward to seeing more vegan options at Purdy’s chocolate in the future.

2025 Contest wins updated Dec 2025

Last year I started keeping track of the prizes I won. You can read that post here  2024 Contest Prize Wins . It is a great post to have for memories so I’m going to start a new post for 2025. Updated December 2025 I’m a little behind on this post. It’s now December. I won four prizes in October and nothing in November. I’m still waiting for one prize to come and hopefully December will be a good month and can beat last years prize vale of $1600. The last prize in October was a $50 Booster Juice gift  card from @jess.can.eat It needed to be picked up in Orleans and I have a friend that lives there. I gave the prize to my friend and she told me she had forgotten how good Booster juice was and enjoyed it.  Total value of prize $50 Total value of prizes 2025 $1369 The third prize was tickets to the Ottawa women’s show. I made a vegan Dubai chocolate bar

I wanted to try a proper vegan version of the viral  Dubai chocolate. I have tried the one from Palm bites  and  it’s good but it’s a healthier version made from dark chocolate and the pistachio is the crunch. I have also tried the cookie from Naturally Vero since they had an option to get it with my meal prep delivery. They do make a chocolate bar  but they don’t deliver it. I like the cookie filling but find it was too heavy in the cookie. Juice Dudez also has the filling in a mango pudding which is excellent but they don’t do a vegan chocolate yet. I am hoping I will convince them or any other Ottawa vendor to make one some day. In the meantime I had to make one myself.  I have asked my vendor friends to make me one even sent them the recipes but no one has yet. I really wanted to try a proper unhealthy version just once.
