Vancouver and Bowen Island trip October 2024 - lots of vegan food

This post will mostly be about the vegan food I ate on my last Vancouver trip. My main purpose of this trip was to visit older relatives but there was a secondary purpose of visiting my mom’s grave for the first time.  I left from Ottawa airport in the evening but I hadn’t eaten much that day. I usually don’t get food on planes but I was hungry and they had a vegan wrap. It was good. You can read about my flight experience here   Is AirCanada bulkhead seat worth an $80 Flights from Ottawa usually arrive in Vancouver in the evening. Before exiting the gates there is a cafe that has to live for treats. Rebel cookies were on sale at the store. There is very little vegan food around my hotel so I stocked up for the week. After getting luggage there is a 7-11 in the airport to get some essentials for the trip. Vegetable Soup or Vegan Cheese Sauce?

I find it amazing that I can throw some vegetables in the soup maker press a button and after 25 minutes it transforms into something super delicious. 

This morning I defrosted some pizza sauce and then did not feel like making pizza. I thought I would try a vegan pizza soup. 


I had a giant sweet potato so I cut some into fry shapes and added the not good looking pieces into the soup maker. Then I added some vegan better than bullion chicken flavour. Half an onion, water, cashews, nutritional yeast, pizza sauce, curry powder, Mexican seasoning and water. I usually add some fat to the soup maker I forgot this time it turned out great. 

While the Soup maker was working I tossed the fries in cornstarch and sprayed with avocado oil. Then air fried them for 12 minutes. Adding a little oil part way through cooking. 

The soup tastes amazing and was a perfect dip for my fries.

I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days.
