The first meal I made was vegan braised cabbage udon noodles. The QR code for recipe instructions did not work but I was able to get instructions from the website. I never follow recipes exactly. I found the vegetable prep to be too much work. I would have rather has the vegetables chopped for me. They gave a quarter of a daikon said use a peeler to make ribbons that was to difficult for me I just chopped it. Some of the instructions were not clear so I made some mistakes. It turned out amazing though. It is definitely not something I would make myself and would be hard to find vegan in a restaurant. I got 3 portions from it so portions are big. I give this meal an 9/10.
The second meal I made was the vegan French onion Mac and cheese. I don’t use an oven and so I just made it in a pan. This was easy to prepare. I found it lacking taste even though I added more spices. When I reheated in the airfryer it tasted much better so it could be that I didn’t follow the cooking instructions. It was good but I can make better vegan Mac and cheese I wish it had more spice. This one is a 6.5 out of 10.

The final meal is vegan palak paneer(tofu). Preparation is easy but you have to cook tofu in the oven, cook rice in a pot, then use another pan to heat the sauce. I never follow directions I cooked the tofu in the airfryer and rice in the Instantpot.
I liked the meal it was easy to prepare. The instructions said to season with salt and pepper but I found it already salty. I added curry powder and because I haven’t been vegan for very long the tofu didn’t taste like paneer I added nutritional yeast for that cheesy flavour. The ratio of ingredients was a little off to me the tofu block was tiny and there is a lot of rice. There was a slight bitterness to the dish which I believe is from coating the tofu in spices before putting it in the oven. I think sautéing the tofu in a pan would have been better recipe instructions. Overall the dish is pretty good 7/10.
Overall impression of vegano meal kits. I liked it. It’s the best meal kit company I have tried so far.
There are a few things I did not like. Every recipe I had required the use of an oven for one ingredient and a saucepan for the rest of the ingredients. I don’t use my oven and don’t follow directions so it worked out okay. I am a person that wants to make on pot meals. The recipe instructions were unclear at times which is okay for me I don’t follow them exactly but people that follow step by step may have an issue. In the future I will only get meals that I have never cooked myself because I feel like I like my recipes better. It is understandable they have to cater to a variety of pallets I can cater to myself. I really enjoyed the udon and that was something I wouldn’t make for myself.
The portion size the meals were great I had meals for two but I got at least 3 out of every one. The quality is good. It does cost around $10 a serving which will save money on takeout but not as cheap as cooking yourself. It was very convenient to put the whole bag for each meal in the fridge and have everything ready at preparation time. All the meals took less than 30 minutes to prepare.
I will definitely order from Vegano again in the future.
