I tried all the vegan soft serve in Ottawa

Image
I tried all the vegan soft serve in Ottawa. I probably missed a few but I did try a lot of them. I have lived in Ottawa for two years and I was still transitioning from vegetarian to vegan when I moved here. I don’t remember having a lot of soft serve in Vancouver when I did eat dairy. I only remember having it at McDonald’s and buffets. I didn’t even know vegan soft serve was a thing until I moved to Ottawa. I tried six places The Merry Dairy, Oddburger, Little Jo Berry’s, Chocolate Favouris, IKEA, PastelXCoco, and 2 bonuses dole whip from Cinnaholic and the plant based dilly bar from Dairy Queen. I also went to Mavericks but they have been having supply issues and the soft serve is currently not vegan. Let me know if I missed any and maybe I’ll update the post in the future.  The Merry Dairy was the first vegan soft serve I had in Ottawa. I remember thinking I had to wait in line to get into the store only to learn soft serve was at the truck with no line. I was super excited that I

Week of May 28 Veg Expo

Image
This is the weekend I wait for all year Veg Expo in Vancouver. I am vegetarian and love food so an exhibition where I can get all the vegetarian food I want for reasonable prices is great. I bought my tickets from social shopper which was 2 for $15 and with cash back from other sites it ended up being around $10. Tickets are well worth the price. A lot of samples in my tummy not sure if the bags that were given out earlier had more items in them. I was picking up a coupon from the table and the volunteer told me they were in the bag. I came home to discover there was no coupon in the bag but I still ended up with a pretty good free haul to bring home. free samples A couple of vendors had responded to my twitter or instagram inquiries and I have been to past veg expo's. I knew I would be stocking up on supplies while I was here and was prepared with cash. Although the venue was larger than past years the crowd also increased in the past it was held over two days. t

Happy Victoria Day Weekend May 22, 2017 and Rao's Pasta Sauce

Image
When you have an expensive jar of pasta sauce and you already devoured the pasta what do you do with it? I eat it for breakfast. Poach an Egg in the sauce realize you don't eat that healthy and add some amazing natural cheese puffs and avacado to it More about the sauce below This weekend was relaxing but I did do a few things that I didn't take any pictures. It is the first very hot weekend of the year and that means it is almost summer. I went to the Richmond night market as is tradition with my friends we go at least once every summer. The night market has become one of the biggest in North America however as with most things I prefer the olden days. In the past there was some unique things to try. This year I had truffle fries and a churro  but it was nice to be outside after 10pm with a still clear night. I felt compelled to return to Richmond during the daytime and took a visit to the mcArthur Glen outlets near the airport. Again nice to be outside

Sweet Potato/Yam Toast

Image
Lately my social media has shown some recipes for sweet potato toast. I am still loving the toaster I received from field agent last year I wanted to try this. sweet potato/yam toast  I peeled a yam as I wasn't sure if the skin would burn and I was prepared to make soup with my ends but I ended up being able to cut it into four slices without any left over. Round 1  I put the smallest two slices in the toaster and put it on the frozen setting. round 1 of toasting Round 2  I put it back on regular toast I should have put it on frozen again round 2 of toasting Round 3 I put it on frozen again round 3 of toasting Round 4 I put it on bagel and it was done. round 4 of toasting At Round 2 I decided to put the other two slices in the toaster oven. I spread some ghee and salt on them and put it in the toaster oven for 10 minutes on toast. It took another 10 minutes on toast and then another 5 minutes on broil for these two be done.

Small Business BC Vancity Seminar and Instagram

I have some catching up to do on blog posts and there will be some catch up posts in the next couple of weeks. I took a vacation and also took one from blogging but I have a lot to write about. I am going to start with a quick update about today. Today I attended a free seminar that was put on by small business BC and Vancity. I really initially signed up for it because the location was a short walk away and free breakfast. It ended up being a great networking event I met a few people I have actually met from other seminars or events I have attended in the past and met a few new people that are involved in the business community. If I was actively involved in a business currently which I am not,  I would have made some great contacts today and found some potential new clients. I highly recommend attending community networking events if you have the time. These networking opportunities are invaluable. I know they are very intimidating if you have never been to any and you go by yours
