My adventures getting routine bloodwork and medication refills in Ottawa

My crazy adventures just need to be documented with random pictures of Ottawa sometimes. I have hypothyroidism so I routinely get blood work done at least once a year sometimes every six months to ensure I have the right dose of medication. This has been the most interesting session I have ever had. I’m currently waiting for someone to fax my requisition because they lost it.  Let’s go back. It’s very difficult to get a family doctor in Ottawa. I am very lucky to have a retired doctor. He only works in the office for half a day once a week. This timing conflicts with my work meetings but I took a couple hours off to go to the appointment as I’m on my last refill. I also wanted to talk to my doctor. I arrived for my appointment and it’s often the case where I have to wait. I waited for quite a while in the waiting room which is normal there are other doctors at this clinic so can’t tell what the wait for my doctor is. Vancouver Planted Expo 2021

I won tickets to planted expo formally veg expo. Prior to the pandemic I went to veg expo every year. This is the first time I have gone as a vegan in the past I was vegetarian I didn’t check but I assume everything was vegan this year. I was hesitant to go to a convention during a pandemic they checked vaccine passports, and masks needed to be worn if not eating. The booths were spaced out but it was a bit awkward eating samples having to take the mask on and off especially if a booth got a little crowd around it. It never got uncomfortably crowded but I did miss a few booths. I felt there were less wrapped samples than at past events but foodie buddy said she thought it was the same as the past. It was nice to be able to attend this kind of an event after a long time.

When you walk in they had reusable bags with gummies  from Herbaland to take. I liked that they laid out all the coupons/promotional materials on the table so you could take what you wanted. In the past I have volunteered and have filled those bags with coupons and samples the new method was much better. 


What did I buy for the show special prices?

I entered a bunch of contests while there so hopefully I will win something else from the online contests. I won some candy, a reusable bag, a pen, and a notepad at the show. 

The expo was great this year and I will look forward to going again in the future.

It has been over six months since I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). I have some previous blogs about getting diagnosed and the day of the procedure. I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. She was lucky her's only lasted a few days but mine always lasted longer than my trip. Almost exactly three years after UFE I went to the bathroom in the morning and there was blood in the toilet. I made a vegan Dubai chocolate bar

I wanted to try a proper vegan version of the viral  Dubai chocolate. I have tried the one from Palm bites  and  it’s good but it’s a healthier version made from dark chocolate and the pistachio is the crunch. I have also tried the cookie from Naturally Vero since they had an option to get it with my meal prep delivery. They do make a chocolate bar  but they don’t deliver it. I like the cookie filling but find it was too heavy in the cookie. Juice Dudez also has the filling in a mango pudding which is excellent but they don’t do a vegan chocolate yet. I am hoping I will convince them or any other Ottawa vendor to make one some day. In the meantime I had to make one myself.  I have asked my vendor friends to make me one even sent them the recipes but no one has yet. I really wanted to try a proper unhealthy version just once.
