Day 6 Jamaica Trip April 2024

We went for breakfast at 7:30 as we had booked a driver that was to pick us up at 8:00 am. There were plantains on the buffet this morning and they were good. We were going to Nine Mile which is Bob Marley’s house and some other sightseeing. We couldn’t arrange for the driver to pick up my friends aunt as she lives too far away. We will try and have her come to the resort tomorrow. It’s our last day and I really want to spend one day relaxing at the resort before we leave. Tomorrow is also 4/20 and all over Ocho Rios were signs for parties and discounts. I don’t want to get stuck on the traffic.  The road to Nine mile was so narrow and bumpy. I spent most of the time holding on while listening to my friend and the driver banter and flirt. It is pretty rare that someone can keep up with my friends feistiness so it was entertaining. There were some great views from the window but I couldn’t get any pictures the ride was too bumpy. The roads in Jamaica are very narrow so there is always h

Manicure and clean soup maker Week of November 13, 2016

An update on my previous post of getting the burned part of the pan. I tried a number of edible items after my google searches. Coke worked really well but I would have needed to use three or four bottles for it to come out clean. The best was pouring baking soda in and just letting it sit overnight then using a dish scrubber after that running hot water through the soup cycle. I am so happy that I can still use the soup maker it is one of the best tools ever. My hand steamer stopped working this week and I use it for lots of things it is so much fun to just spray steam at things to clean and sanitize them. I ordered a replacement from amazon yesterday this is a little steamer so it was only $40 including shipping but I am lost without my gadgets.

This has been a lay back weekend. Although I am Canadian the event of the week was the US election and now everyone is tired. It is also the week to adjust to time change and the darkness at 4pm plus the winter weather is starting. In Vancouver this means rain not snow but it is the time everyone wants to just stay under a blanket in their bed.  This week was also Remembrance day in Canada and I am grateful for everything that has been done to make my country so wonderful to live in.

On Thursday night I had dinner with my mom and my brother. My mom is finally feeling a little bit better after three months of shingles she is still not 100%. It was the first time she has cooked in months so I took a bunch of leftovers and had no need to make anything this weekend. On Friday my mom and I went out for lunch.

Sunday was manicure time. Two years ago I was one of those people that could not sit through a manicure and would go get one for a special event and not enjoy the experience, I hated people touching me and would get grossed out about communal tools etc. A year and a half ago Tiffany nail bar opened close to my house and I loved the atmosphere clean place and they always used individual sterilized tools. I became a regular there only using regular nail polish and visiting every 1-2 weeks they finally convinced me to switch to gel a couple months ago and now it's every 3 weeks. I am addicted to it. It is the place where everyone knows me they are super friendly and do a great job on nails. I am also the kind of person who can't draw a straight line and spills nail polish all over furniture so doing my own nails is not the best idea for me. It is worth the cost for me to get them done. It really isn't that expensive $40 for a gel manicure that lasts 3 weeks. I have seen them do no advertising other than maybe a piece of paper on their wall or window with a special and go from not being known to a super busy place all from word of mouth because it is a great place. They know I am easy going so when I ask for things like different colours they don't question my choices. I have been doing different colour nails for almost a year now but I feel like it is becoming popular so I had to try something else trying the half and half nail. Leave me a comment on what you think I should do with my nails next?
