A road trip Ottawa to Quebec City Day 1

 My friend visited from Vancouver at the same time a friend from Ottawa was going to Montreal to celebrate her birthday and foodie buddy was also going to be in Ottawa. I will call the first friend to arrive Van-friend she is Korean and really wanted to go to Quebec City because there is a Korean drama filmed at the fairmont there. I learned French in Trois-Rivières thirty years ago and I always said I would go back one day. This trip took a lot of planning but of course things never go as planned it was still a great trip just wished we had more time in each city. When we were looking to rent a car we were having trouble getting one and no trains were running to Quebec City on a Thursday. We decided to book a flight from Ottawa to Quebec City meet my friend in Montreal the next day stay the night and drive back to Ottawa in the afternoon.  Van friend flight came late on Wednesday night. Poo Bun - Richmond Night Market - September 26, 2015

If you have never been to the Richmond Night Market there are many food stalls and various food items along with the very normal asian style items but the dessert items seem to have a lot of interesting shapes. Walking down the food stall I thought does that sign really say poo bun and what is a poo bun. My friend yes I saw it before the bun is shaped like a turd and it served with condensed milk. Left it at that but after roaming and looking at the price of mini donuts $12. We decided that this 3 buns for $5 would be a good thing to try. I asked if the condensed milk was inside she said they serve it on top and told me that they were made from whole wheat. We waiting a few minutes for our freshly fried 3 buns  covered in condensed milk there was three of us so one each. They were delicious super hot I would have liked ice cream with it. The most entertaining part though was that we spent an hour making jokes about how we had eaten "sh..: and poo shaped buns which was worth way more than the $5 we spent. I guess that was the point if it was a regular shaped bun we would have never noticed it. This vendor's marketing strategy worked on us we will probably seek these out next year. You can't really beat fried dough with sugar in a different shape for $5.

It has been over six months since I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). I have some previous blogs about getting diagnosed and the day of the procedure. It is about seven months after the procedure now.  Where I live you stay overnight in the hospital for pain management they give you a self controlled morphine pump. There are other places where you will go home 4 hours after the procedure. I remember being in my room and people telling me they were going to put things in a locker I asked them to give me the ginger coconut water I had in the bag. I knew I wasn't going to be allowed to get up for hours nor did I feel like it I didn't realize that I wouldn't be allowed to get up all night because of the urinary catheter. If you haven’t read my previous blog posts about fibroids and UFE this post will make more sense after reading these posts   Recovery Six months after UFE   Fibroids, Ultrasound, MRI, UFE during a Pandemic Since I don’t have any pictures to go along with this post enjoy the scenery pictures that are from Vancouver and Ottawa. I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. She was lucky her's only lasted a few days but mine always lasted longer than my trip. Almost exactly three years after UFE I went to the bathroom in the morning and there was blood in the toilet. I enter and win a lot of contests but I always forget to keep track of what I win. This year I will keep updating this post as my prizes come in.  Update September 2024 - Contest win # 8 I won a $100 giftcard for St Laurent Mall from unstoppable mama on Instagram. I go to this mall a lot because it’s one of the easiest ones for me to get to in Ottawa. It’s a decent sized mall not too big and it doesn’t have a grocery store but has everything else that I would expect to be in a mall. I went after work to pick up the gift card from the administrative office it took me awhile to find it. As many times as I have been in the mall I never went to that area there is even a GoodLife Fitness there I had no idea. After being in a grey cubicle farm all day the mall office looked so nice I almost wanted to apply for a job there.
