A road trip Ottawa to Quebec City Day 1

 My friend visited from Vancouver at the same time a friend from Ottawa was going to Montreal to celebrate her birthday and foodie buddy was also going to be in Ottawa. I will call the first friend to arrive Van-friend she is Korean and really wanted to go to Quebec City because there is a Korean drama filmed at the fairmont there. I learned French in Trois-Rivières thirty years ago and I always said I would go back one day. This trip took a lot of planning but of course things never go as planned it was still a great trip just wished we had more time in each city. When we were looking to rent a car we were having trouble getting one and no trains were running to Quebec City on a Thursday. We decided to book a flight from Ottawa to Quebec City meet my friend in Montreal the next day stay the night and drive back to Ottawa in the afternoon.  Van friend flight came late on Wednesday night. Plant based cheese sticks

We have a grocery store here called No frills. The name describes it prices are good but the quality is also good. It is a nice grocery store. 

Presidents choice is the brand that no frills and the other grocery stores in the same group of companies carry. They have a good line of vegan products. 

The last few times I have visited No Frills I have looked at the plant based Mozzarella sticks. The box was almost $8 I was hoping they would go on sale. They didn’t so I finally decided to try them. 

I cooked them in the air fryer and probably overcooked them so the cheese came out. 


These were much better than I was expecting them to be. The cheese was like cream cheese. It would be great as a jalapeño popper. 

I will definitely buy these again and now I think the box of 20 for less than $8 was a good price.

It has been over six months since I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). I have some previous blogs about getting diagnosed and the day of the procedure. It is about seven months after the procedure now.  Where I live you stay overnight in the hospital for pain management they give you a self controlled morphine pump. There are other places where you will go home 4 hours after the procedure. I remember being in my room and people telling me they were going to put things in a locker I asked them to give me the ginger coconut water I had in the bag. I knew I wasn't going to be allowed to get up for hours nor did I feel like it I didn't realize that I wouldn't be allowed to get up all night because of the urinary catheter. I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. She was lucky her's only lasted a few days but mine always lasted longer than my trip. Almost exactly three years after UFE I went to the bathroom in the morning and there was blood in the toilet. I enter and win a lot of contests but I always forget to keep track of what I win. This year I will keep updating this post as my prizes come in.  Update September 2024 - Contest win # 8 I won a $100 giftcard for St Laurent Mall from unstoppable mama on Instagram. I go to this mall a lot because it’s one of the easiest ones for me to get to in Ottawa. It’s a decent sized mall not too big and it doesn’t have a grocery store but has everything else that I would expect to be in a mall. I went after work to pick up the gift card from the administrative office it took me awhile to find it. As many times as I have been in the mall I never went to that area there is even a GoodLife Fitness there I had no idea. After being in a grey cubicle farm all day the mall office looked so nice I almost wanted to apply for a job there.
