I took a flight from Ottawa to Vancouver. I could see from the seating map that the flight was fully booked. I usually pay to book a window seat and then try and get a seat with no one beside me at the last minute it works 50% of the time and the planes that I have been on leaving from Ottawa are not usually full. This time was different the airport was busier than I have ever seen it. I could tell from the seating map the plane was full. It cost $40 to book a window seat. I saw a last minute opening for a bulkhead window seat and decided to try it. It cost $80 to upgrade to the bulkhead seat but the $40 I already paid would get credited. I liked the idea of having a wall in front of me on such a packed flight. I have free check in luggage with my credit card so I usually only take a backpack to leave under my seat on the plane. If I was in the back of the plane I wait until the last minute to board. I knew I would have no storage at my seat but this seat comes with early zone 3 b...

This morning I defrosted some pizza sauce and then did not feel like making pizza. I thought I would try a vegan pizza soup.
I had a giant sweet potato so I cut some into fry shapes and added the not good looking pieces into the soup maker. Then I added some vegan better than bullion chicken flavour. Half an onion, water, cashews, nutritional yeast, pizza sauce, curry powder, Mexican seasoning and water. I usually add some fat to the soup maker I forgot this time it turned out great.
While the Soup maker was working I tossed the fries in cornstarch and sprayed with avocado oil. Then air fried them for 12 minutes. Adding a little oil part way through cooking.
The soup tastes amazing and was a perfect dip for my fries.

Recovery Six months after Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
It has been over six months since I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). I have some previous blogs about getting diagnosed and the day of the procedure. You can read them here my-experience-having-uterine-fibroid.html and Fibroids-ultrasound-mri-and-ufe-.html Now it is time to talk about recovery. I will start with right after the procedure to now. It is about seven months after the procedure now. Where I live you stay overnight in the hospital for pain management they give you a self controlled morphine pump. There are other places where you will go home 4 hours after the procedure. I remember being in my room and people telling me they were going to put things in a locker I asked them to give me the ginger coconut water I had in the bag. I knew I wasn't going to be allowed to get up for hours nor did I feel like it I didn't realize that I wouldn't be allowed to get up all night because of the urinary catheter. It didn't matter because I had no desire to get up ...
Post Menopausal bleeding, ultrasounds, biopsy, women’s health center
If you haven’t read my previous blog posts about fibroids and UFE this post will make more sense after reading these posts Recovery Six months after UFE Fibroids, Ultrasound, MRI, UFE during a Pandemic Since I don’t have any pictures to go along with this post enjoy the scenery pictures that are from Vancouver and Ottawa. I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. She was lucky her's only lasted a few days but mine always lasted longer than my trip. Almost exactly three years after UFE I went to the bathroom in the morning and there was blood in the toilet. I thought okay I’m not sure what this is maybe it’s just a one time thing. I hadn’t realized it at the time bu...
2024 Contest Wins updated November 2024
I enter and win a lot of contests but I always forget to keep track of what I win. This year I will keep updating this post as my prizes come in. Contest win #10 I won a $50 gift certificate from Parkdale food center for Marche Hintonburg. Parkdale food center is an incredible organization that provides food and meals to those in the community in Ottawa. Ever since I moved to Ottawa I have been a regular supporter of this organization I believe everyone should have equal access to food. It is also very important to the neighbourhood and the community regularly holds events to support. Marche Hintonburg is also in the neighbourhood. I always thought it was a grocery store with great vegan options until I saw the gift card I had no idea it was a butcher shop. It also felt a bit ackward winning a prize of from an organization I regularly donate to. Something I don’t normally talk about is I quietly give away most of the gift cards I win to people I know that can use a little bo...
