A road trip Ottawa to Quebec City Day 1

 My friend visited from Vancouver at the same time a friend from Ottawa was going to Montreal to celebrate her birthday and foodie buddy was also going to be in Ottawa. I will call the first friend to arrive Van-friend she is Korean and really wanted to go to Quebec City because there is a Korean drama filmed at the fairmont there. I learned French in Trois-Rivières thirty years ago and I always said I would go back one day. This trip took a lot of planning but of course things never go as planned it was still a great trip just wished we had more time in each city. When we were looking to rent a car we were having trouble getting one and no trains were running to Quebec City on a Thursday. We decided to book a flight from Ottawa to Quebec City meet my friend in Montreal the next day stay the night and drive back to Ottawa in the afternoon.  Van friend flight came late on Wednesday night. I tried Purdy’s vegan sweet Georgia Browns chocolate

Purdy’s chocolate has really been stepping up their vegan chocolate selections. They have created a mylk using rice powder. Originally they introduced a few types of simple chocolate bars. I have tried all of them and they are all good. 

Recently Purdy’s released vegan sweet Georgia browns. I have had the non vegan version and they are not my favourite but they are very popular. I always love to support companies when they introduce new vegan products so I tried them expecting I wouldn’t like them. I was wrong. 

The Sweet Georgia browns come in either a package of 2 or a bigger package. The package of 2 for the non vegan costs $5.50 and the vegan costs $6. It is understandable the vegan ones will cost more as they are a new product and I personally think the ingredients are better. 


They are a little difficult to get out of the package because there is no chocolate on the bottom. It is a lot of pecans in the beautiful vegan caramel  topped with chocolate. 

These are delicious and well worth the price. They are packed with nuts. The caramel is not insanely sweet it matches perfect with the nuts and holds everything together well.

The only thing I wished would be different was more chocolate. It does have a good amount of chocolate on it but I would prefer to have a little more maybe on the bottom to make it easier to get out of the package. 

I will definitely be buying the vegan Sweet Georgia Browns again and look forward to seeing more vegan options at Purdy’s chocolate in the future.

I went into menopause in my forties after having uterine fibroid embolization for fibroids. I was loving menopause not worrying about bleeding was so great. All the symptoms I had except for a few were easier than dealing with fibroid periods. I went to Jamaica with my friend in April and she got hers on the trip and I was like I don’t miss those days. I enter and win a lot of contests but I always forget to keep track of what I win. This year I will keep updating this post as my prizes come in.  Update September 2024 - Contest win # 8 I won a $100 giftcard for St Laurent Mall from unstoppable mama on Instagram. I go to this mall a lot because it’s one of the easiest ones for me to get to in Ottawa. It’s a decent sized mall not too big and it doesn’t have a grocery store but has everything else that I would expect to be in a mall. I went after work to pick up the gift card from the administrative office it took me awhile to find it. As many times as I have been in the mall I never went to that area there is even a GoodLife Fitness there I had no idea. After being in a grey cubicle farm all day the mall office looked so nice I almost wanted to apply for a job there.
