Started 2025 with a trip to Las Vegas

It’s now December 31, 2025 Im drinking tea in an ice cream shop in Ottawa realizing I never finished this post. I drafted this post earlier in the year but it’s all still relevant.  The  way the world has changed in the last few months I feel like I need to explain that I went to Las Vegas in early 2025 because I knew things were going to change after January 20. I didn’t know how. I was expecting more violence and less direct flights. I never expected that things would change so quickly in a few months. It is now the beginning of March and it’s hard to keep up. Anyways flights and tourism to US destinations are already significantly reduced from Canada. I finished this trip knowing it would be awhile before I visited the US again and it was a pretty perfect trip for my memories and I am glad I took it.  I have been to Las Vegas many times you can read about some of my previous trips on this blog. Jam Cafe Vancouver

My friend told me about this place and then I saw an article about it. When I arrived it was 7:55 on a Friday morning there was a line up at 8 am. I have been inside for 15 minutes and the place is almost full most places in Vancouver are not full at this time so it must be good. It's very comfortable so far lots of people on their own like me nice comfortable decor. The menu has so many options there is something for everyone. I have a feeling the portions are huge so I went with the smallest portion meal a little veggie a bowl with crumbled biscuits, hash browns, veggies and 2 eggs $12. The first table just got their food it's a bit slow but I can't blame them considering how many people are here.
The lunch menu looks good I  want to come back to try the Mac and cheese sandwich. I just got my food  this thing is not little at all it's very good. Did I mention the mushroom gravy? The biscuits are so good very tasty don't think I can eat it all though. My server came by to ask how everything is I told him very good but it's not little he said you should see the big one people don't finish it. People don't finish the little one I told him I can't finish it told me he will be happy to pack it up. The people beside me got their food it looks good pancakes with meat and beets on top and chicken and waffles. The house made jalepeno hot sauce is good too. I am so full and I only ate the top of the bowl which was two eggs, a lot of biscuit, hash browns, and mushroom gravy. I think I will be back with another person or two or three to help me eat. I enjoyed this place the food, service, atmosphere are all excellent seriously my only complaint is the portion size is too big. I ate my leftovers for dinner and breakfast the next day and those were big portions! This little veggie bowl gave me three large size meals and it was so good I didn't mind eating it three times. I really should have taken a picture of my leftovers as my original picture doesn't really show how stuffed the bowl was but sorry I was too excited about eating it to take another picture.

It has been over six months since I had Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE). I have some previous blogs about getting diagnosed and the day of the procedure. Last year I started keeping track of the prizes I won. You can read that post here  2024 Contest Prize Wins . It is a great post to have for memories so I’m going to start a new post for 2025. Updated December 2025 I’m a little behind on this post. It’s now December. I won four prizes in October and nothing in November. I’m still waiting for one prize to come and hopefully December will be a good month and can beat last years prize vale of $1600. The last prize in October was a $50 Booster Juice gift  card from @jess.can.eat It needed to be picked up in Orleans and I have a friend that lives there. I gave the prize to my friend and she told me she had forgotten how good Booster juice was and enjoyed it.  Total value of prize $50 Total value of prizes 2025 $1369 The third prize was tickets to the Ottawa women’s show. I made a vegan Dubai chocolate bar

I wanted to try a proper vegan version of the viral  Dubai chocolate. I have tried the one from Palm bites  and  it’s good but it’s a healthier version made from dark chocolate and the pistachio is the crunch. I have also tried the cookie from Naturally Vero since they had an option to get it with my meal prep delivery. They do make a chocolate bar  but they don’t deliver it. I like the cookie filling but find it was too heavy in the cookie. Juice Dudez also has the filling in a mango pudding which is excellent but they don’t do a vegan chocolate yet. I am hoping I will convince them or any other Ottawa vendor to make one some day. In the meantime I had to make one myself.  I have asked my vendor friends to make me one even sent them the recipes but no one has yet. I really wanted to try a proper unhealthy version just once.
