I tried all the vegan soft serve in Ottawa

I tried all the vegan soft serve in Ottawa. I probably missed a few but I did try a lot of them. I have lived in Ottawa for two years and I was still transitioning from vegetarian to vegan when I moved here. I don’t remember having a lot of soft serve in Vancouver when I did eat dairy. I only remember having it at McDonald’s and buffets. I didn’t even know vegan soft serve was a thing until I moved to Ottawa. I tried six places The Merry Dairy, Oddburger, Little Jo Berry’s, Chocolate Favouris, IKEA, PastelXCoco, and 2 bonuses dole whip from Cinnaholic and the plant based dilly bar from Dairy Queen. I also went to Mavericks but they have been having supply issues and the soft serve is currently not vegan. Let me know if I missed any and maybe I’ll update the post in the future.  The Merry Dairy was the first vegan soft serve I had in Ottawa. I remember thinking I had to wait in line to get into the store only to learn soft serve was at the truck with no line. I was super excited that I

Day 4 Jamaica Trip 2024

It rain stormed last night  it was cloudy and windy in the morning. My friend wanted to go on the nature walk around the hotel again I decided to join this time it started at 9:30. We had a quick breakfast buffet before going on the walk. It was nice the weather was a little cooler today. I did ask the tour desk if our rafting tour is still going today she said it’s a different area so weather is different and it will be going.

The tour was great. There are a lot of plants around the property and Donavan told us all about the health benefits of the plants. I will link an Instagram Reel of all the plants once it’s uploaded.

Donavan also showed us the cat sleeping in the tree. They have a feeding area for the cats where they give them the buffet leftovers. This is why the cats are happy and content at the resort. They sleep during the day and go hunting at night. I realized during the tour that there are so many places around the resort I hadn’t even seen yet like exercise stations and tennis courts. Time is going by to fast I haven’t even sat on the beach yet.

After the tour we had a little over an hour before pick up for the rafting tour. I got a coffee went to my room worked on yesterday’s blog post for a little bit. I usually only drink one cup of coffee a day but they are grinding blue mountain coffee beans here and they are very expensive so this week I’m having two a day. Then I got ready and my friend and I went to the beach bar so I could get a veggie burger for lunch. We were short on time they accommodated giving me paper plates. The hotel is a low waste hotel so they don’t usually give out disposable items. I was able to eat at the lobby before the bus came

Our guide on the bus was great. He gave us lots of info about the tour and the history of Jamaica. The captain on the raft make the rafts from bamboo they last 4-6 months before they have to be discarded. They gave us a few minutes at some stores to buy mosquito repellent and snacks.

The rafting was great. Our guide was good and I mostly just listened to my friend and the the captain chat about Jamaica. It was beautiful going down the river. I didn’t have my phone out for fear of dropping it so I only took a couple pictures at the beginning.

It took about an hour and a half. The return bus ride was just relaxing some music playing until we were back at the hotel at 5pm.We have to wait until 6 for dinner. Tonight I will try the sushi bar.

I am sitting on the balcony of my room with this pool view while I’m working on the post and now it’s time to get ready for dinner.

Before dinner I found some more cats. Then we headed to sushi bar. It’s a small menu..

When we entered we were asked about allergies I said I’m vegan the hostess just gave me a look. I asked the chef if she could make a vegan roll she said vegetable and I asked for tofu in it. I asked if the salad had fish sauce she said no.

The salad ended up being soba noodles and it was okay. My friends sushi was premade she ate a bit and decided to leave me and go to the buffet. My roll was still being made.

I don’t know what the creamy sauce was that all the sushi was on top off but I’ll guess it likely wasn’t vegan. I should have said dairy allergy. The hibachi restaurant is in the same place and the chef for that sang a good song. I found the atmosphere in there ackward with staff just standing and looking. I think I’ll stick to the buffet for dinners.
Met my friend at the buffet and lots of dishes had the vegan symbol tonight.
No vegan dessert other than fruit but I think the chocolate sauce will be the same as the coffee shop that I read ingredients on and it’s accidentally vegan. If you come here in the future ask to read the ingredients as they might change suppliers.

We are still at the buffet I’m waiting for my friend to get off the phone. This is the beautiful view from dinner and there is a live band playing here.

I had tea at the buffet while my friend had dessert. I asked for soy milk for my tea they brought me a little side container of it. After that we came up to our rooms pretty early it was before 9pm.My legs still hurt from yesterday and every time I want to come and go from my room it’s three flights of stairs so I am happy to get some rest in my room tonight. The crickets or frogs are noisier than usual tonight. That is the end of day 4.
